The Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Council announced on Wednesday (26 February 2025) that the gates of the temple will be open at 7 a.m. on May 2. The committee’s CEO Vijay Prasad Thapliyal made the announcement.
With the announcement of the opening of Kedarnath Temple, dates have now been set for all four sacred sites in the Garhwal Himalayas.
Badrinath Dham will open on May 4, while Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams will open on April 30 at Akshaya Tritiya. Together these four sites form a small pilgrimage circuit Chota Char Dham.
He said that the auspicious time and date of opening of Jedanas Temple on the occasion of Mahashivratri was decided on the occasion of prayer of Omkareshwar Temple, the winter residence of Baba Kedar.
