Controversy broke out in Jamu and Kashmir at an outdoor fashion show, which was recently held at the picturesque Gurmag ski resort. Several political leaders and people on social media believe that the incident was “obscene” during the Holy Month of Ramzan.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s office also said “Shock and Anger” was understandable and ordered the report to be submitted within 24 hours based on what actions will be taken.
A videotape has spread, showing models walking along a snow-covered ramp at the Elle India fashion show organized by a duo of fashion designers from Shivam and Narresh.
Elle posted a video on his Instragram threading account.
“Shock and anger are totally understandable. The images I see completely ignore local sensitivity, as is the case in this holy month. My office is in contact with local authorities and I request a report within the next 24 hours. According to this report, the report will take further action in this report,” the Chief Minister’s Office wrote on X.
Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq questioned the motivation for holding a fashion show during Ramzan and called it “outrageous.”
“Thrilling! In the holy month of Ramzan, an obscene fashion show was organized in Gulmarg. The pictures and videos caused shock and anger among people. How to tolerate valleys known for their Sophie, saint culture, and religious people of these people should be immediately promoted by responsibility.
Jamu and Kashmir People’s Congress Director Sajad Lone said that during Ramzan, Gulmarg’s fashion show was a “very avoidable event” even though he said he was “a person with free training.”
“I consider myself a free-oriented person and believe in a coexistence of dignity and mutual respect. But this is not the best time to hold such events.”
