Both the New Democratic Alliance and the India Bloc MPs staged protests inside the Parliament building and there was a stand-off between the two sides, with the Bharatiya Janata Party leader saying two MPs were injured.
BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi claimed that he was injured at the urging of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Sarangi claimed he was standing on the stairs when another MP fell on him, causing him head injuries.
“Rahul Gandhi pushed a parliamentarian and he fell on me and then I fell… when Rahul Gandhi came and pushed a parliamentarian and then he fell on me,” Singh told reporters …”. The BJP MP was rushed to an ambulance for treatment.
Both the MPs were admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi.
Reacting to the allegations, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that when he tried to enter the Parliament, he too was pushed and threatened by BJP MPs who were protesting near the entrance. He also alleged that Congress president Mallikarjun Haq was also being pushed.
“This may appear on your cameras. I tried to enter from the Parliament entrance but the BJP MPs tried to stop me, pushed me and threatened me. This has happened… yes, this has happened (Mallikarjun Kharge was Pushed)),” Rahul Gandhi told reporters.
