Former England captain Michael Atherton said the competition between India and Pakistan has now become “unilateral” because the hype does not match expectations. India beat Pakistan’s six wickets in their group on Sunday, Dubai’s ongoing championship trophy match.
“Well, it’s totally one-sided,” Michael Atherton said in the Sky Sports podcast.

Atherton argued that cricket didn’t live up to its bills with all the heights surrounding the fixture.
“There is one problem with this game, isn’t it? Because it’s a highly anticipated competition for various reasons. Part of it, just because of scarcity value. They only have ICC activities on neutral territory for obvious reasons play with each other,” he said.
“But there is such a hype around that fixture. You also hope that cricket can live up to that hype. If you look at the results in the past 10 years, I think they’ve played each other nine times in ODI in the past 10 years in the past 10 years. .

“Since the beginning of 2000, Pakistan has actually been very competitive with India at ODI. I think they kind of won 26 and lost 30, something like that. But in the past decade, in those nine games, in the past nine games. In the game, this almost all disappeared from India’s way, with one exception.”
