Following a series of hoax bomb threats against flights, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police have registered eight cases in the past 10 days and launched an investigation into information on flights to and from Hyderabad.
Police said all these threats originated from the Anonymous X (formerly known as Twitter) account and affected Indigo and Air India flights to and from Hyderabad.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Shamshabad) K. Srinivas Rao said police officials are working closely with the Twitter headquarters to identify the people behind these anonymous accounts posting threats. The official added that whenever there is a threat on the Internet, a thorough check is also carried out before the flight in question takes off. The investigation is ongoing.
Of the 72 threats received across the country on Tuesday (October 29, 2024), six were targeted at Hyderabad flights, including five Indigo flights and one Air India flight.
