The Transport Department has extended the deadline for the installation of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) to November 30.
HSRP is a tamper-resistant license plate with a non-reusable lock. Official sources said that regular number plates are made by affixing stickers on the number plate and can be easily tampered with, while HSRP can only be removed by breaking the lock to prevent unauthorized replacement or tampering.
Initially, the deadline to install HSRP on vehicles registered before April 1, 2019 was November 17, 2023. The date has been extended several times.
To assist vehicle owners, the Transport Department has set up a dedicated helpline to answer HSRP-related queries. For support, owners can contact 9449863429 or 9449863426.
The department urged vehicle owners to comply with the directive before the extended period, stressing that failure to install HSRP within this period may result in penalties or other enforcement measures.
