Hola Mohalla has no speakers for tractors and trucks

The Hola Mohalla Festival will be held from March 10 to 15 at Sri Anandpur Sahib and Sri Kiratpur Sahib. During the celebrations, authorities have banned spokespersons for tractors and trucks.

Police officer Rupunagar Senior Principal Gulneet Singh Khurana said police officers in all areas of Punjab have been directed to issue orders to station House officials and traffic officials. Truck union and panchayats were told that during the festival, double-decker trucks on motorcycles, large speakers on tractor trolleys, motorcycles without silencers would not be allowed to enter Sri Anandpur Sahib and Sri Kiratpur sahib.

“Strict action will be taken against those violating traffic rules. Vehicles that cause noise pollution will be removed on the spot before being allowed to proceed,” Kurana said.

The decision, he said, was to avoid destruction by devotees. He mentioned events during the 2023 celebrations, in which the Sikh youth died after a dispute over the tractor speakers.

Khurana urged attendees to comply with traffic rules and police instructions to ensure that the festival is underway without any incidents.

Hola Mohalla is a three-day Sikh festival that is usually held in March. It falls on the second day of the odd (Chett) moon month, usually the second day after the Indian music festival Holi. Sikhs from different regions in India and abroad gathered in large numbers.
