Three suspects linked to the grenade attack in Gurdaspur in Punjab were injured in a clash with a joint team of Uttar Pradesh and Punjab police in Uttar Pradesh’s Puranpur district early on Monday morning. The accused were identified as Gurvinder Singh (25), Virender Singh alias Ravi (23) and Jaspreet Singh alias Pratap Singh (18), all residents of Gurdaspur. According to officials, the three were involved in a grenade attack on Gurdaspur police checkpoint.

Police action leads to shootout

Uttar Pradesh Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash confirmed that the suspect was cornered in a coordinated operation. “Three people were seriously injured in the clash and were immediately sent to CHC Puranpur for treatment,” Yash said.

Police seized a large number of weapons from the suspects, including two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols and a large amount of ammunition.

“The situation on the ground is under control and legal proceedings are ongoing,” Yash added, stressing that the joint operation was an important step in combating criminal activities in the area.
