Earlier on Monday (December 23, 2024), three terror suspects involved in the Gurdaspur grenade attack were killed in an encounter with a joint team of Uttar Pradesh and Punjab police in Pilibhit, Punjab Police Commissioner Gaurav Ya Gaurav Yadav called it a major attack.
The accused were identified as Gurvinder Singh (25), Virender Singh alias Ravi (23) and Jaspreet Singh alias Pra Tapu Singh, 18), both residents of Gurdaspur, Punjab.
The encounter took place in Puranpur district of Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash said the three were involved in a grenade attack on Gurdaspur police checkpoint.
“Three people were seriously injured in the clash and were immediately sent to CHC Puranpur for treatment,” he said.
The three suspects later succumbed to their injuries, the Assistant Director General told PTI.
He said two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols and a large amount of ammunition were recovered from their possession.
The Punjab Police Chief said in a post on encounter. He said that this terrorist group was involved in grenade attacks on police agencies in the Punjab border area.
“The encounter took place in Pilibhit’s PS Puranpur jurisdiction between Pilibhit and Punjab Joint Police Team where three members of the module were involved in a grenade attack on #Gurdaspur police post.
The Attorney General said investigations are ongoing to unravel the entire terror module.
