Foxconn launches the “Foxbrain” AI model, its first big language model

Taiwan’s Foxconn said on Monday it launched its first large language model and plans to use the technology to improve manufacturing and supply chain management.

The world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer said in a statement that the model, known as “Foxbrain,” was trained using NVIDIA’s H100 GPU and completed in about four weeks.

The company assembled iPhones for Apple and also produced NVIDIA’s artificial intelligence servers, which the company said is based on Meta’s Llama 3.1 architecture.

It said this is Taiwan’s first large language model, whose inference capabilities can be optimized for traditional Chinese and Taiwanese language styles.

Foxconn said that although its overall performance is very close to world-class standards compared to China’s DeepSeek’s distillation model.

Originally designed for internal applications, Fox Brain covers data analytics, decision support, document collaboration, mathematics, reasoning and problem solving, and code generation.

Foxconn said it plans to work with technology partners to expand the model’s applications, share its open source information, and promote AI in manufacturing, supply chain management and intelligent decision-making.

Foxconn said NVIDIA provided support through its Taiwan supercomputer “Taipei” and provided technical advice during training on the model.

Taipei, Taiwan’s largest supercomputer, is owned and operated by Nvidia in Kaohsiung, the southern city on the island.

Foxconn will announce more details about the model in mid-March at NVIDIA’s GTC Developers Conference.
