“For the first time in history,” said Atishi, who was “banned” at the Delhi Parliament venue

The AAM AADMI Party (AAP) MLA, including the Opposition Leaders (LOP), held a protest outside the Delhi Parliament before the start of the third day of a new meeting under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government on Thursday.

Opposition leaders protested over allegedly denied access to parliamentary venues. They claimed that they were blocked from entering the parliament by the police on the orders of the Speaker and claimed that the roadblocks were placed on the entry road to stop them.

Police said we (AAP MLA) were suspended from the conference, so we were not even allowed to enter the prerequisite. This is undemocratic and unconstitutional…that has never happened in the history of the country so far…even in parliament, even under the statue of Gandhi, we are not protesting, but are we all protesting?

Later, she said in an article on X that the elected MLA was not even allowed to enter the Vidhan Sabha house. “This is the first time in the country’s history that people who have been elected to be in parliamentary venues. Until now, the police have not shown us any orders. This is the dictatorship of the BJP,” she said.

21 AAP suspension

The 21 AAP MLAs, which were rejected by the President of the General Assembly, were suspended for three days on February 25 for the slogan against the ruling BJP, for allegedly deleting Baba Saheb Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh from the Chief Minister’s Office.

Former Chief Minister Atishi cited examples from other legislatures and said: “If you see the Legislative Assembly of Delhi, the Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Madrid Legislative Assembly, elected legislators will never stop. Even if the parliament is suspended, the elected members will never stop. Therefore, even after being suspended under the statue of Gandhi, protests are often carried out in parliament.” She added: “What is suspended does not mean we have been suspended at the general meeting.”

This is the first time in the country’s history that elected judicial counselors have entered the venue of the conference.

Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma supported the suspension of the AAP MLA and said they raised slogans in LG’s speech, undermining the lawsuit for the house. “If they violate the law in this way, that’s not good,” he said.
