New Delhi: YouTuber Nalini Unagar has given up content creation after spending over Rs 8 lakh on her channel, claiming that the website never paid her. Angry that YouTube is not offering her anything in return, Nalini plans to sell her kitchen accessories and studio equipment. She claimed that she even risked her career by setting up her own channel but failed to earn revenue from the platform. Nalini believes the platform may favor certain channels and films.
Why did Nalini end her YouTube career?
Nalini, who runs the cooking channel Nalini’s Kitchen Recipe, published a series of posts on X about her cooking experiences and their difficulties, and announced the sale of her kitchen accessories and studio equipment.
“My career on YouTube failed, so I sold all my kitchen accessories and studio equipment. If anyone is interested in buying, please let me know.
In another post, Nalini said: “Let me admit it today – I invested around Rs 8 lakh in my YouTube channel on building a kitchen, buying studio equipment and promotions. Return? Rs 0.
Nalini says her three years of hard work and more than 250 videos on YouTube have not brought her any meaningful results. “I invested 3 years on YouTube and created over 250 videos. However, I didn’t get the response I was hoping for, so I finally decided to stop making videos and removed all content from the platform. Online platforms also need A little bit of luck, so it’s wise not to rely on them as your main source of income. Your ‘shop’ may be closed before you wake up the next day,” she said.
Nalini said in another post that she was risking her career, but she did not receive any income from the site. “To be honest, I’m angry at YouTube,” she said. “I spent money, time, and even risked my career to build my channel, and YouTube gave me nothing in return. It feels like the platform favors certain channels and Certain types of videos, while others don’t get recognition despite their efforts.
