As the stand-off continues between the BJP and the opposition Congress, two saffron party MPs were injured inside the Assembly complex for allegedly insulting BR Ambedkar during protests, with BJP Nagaland MP S Phangnon Konyak accusing Congress leader Rahul ·Gandhi misbehaved.
Member of the House of Representatives Konyak has written to the Chairman of the House of Representatives accusing the leader of the opposition party in the People’s House of misconduct.
In a letter to the RS president, Konyak said while participating in a peaceful protest against the atrocities committed by the Congress party against Baba Sahib Ambedkar, Konyak added: “My dignity and self-respect Violated. I was standing at the bottom of the stairs of Makar Dwaar with a placard in my hand. The security personnel blocked the entrance and opened a path to the entrance for the Hon’ble MPs from other parties. Suddenly, the Leader of the Opposition pulled the Kul Gandhi and other party members came before me even though a passage was provided for them.
She further said: “He loudly behaved inappropriately towards me and the fact that he was so physically close to me made me feel very uncomfortable as a female member. I stepped aside with a heavy heart and condemned my democracy Right, but I don’t think any member of Congress should do that.
The MP further pointed out that she belongs to the ST community in Nagaland and said, “I am a woman member. My dignity and self-respect have been deeply hurt by the LoP, Shri Rahul Gandhi ji. Therefore, Dear Sir, I seek Your protection.
Earlier in the day, proceedings in the Union House were disrupted by a protest by the finance minister, who started shouting slogans demanding action against Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
