Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team after India’s sensational victory against New Zealand in the Dubai Champions League final, calling the victory a “excellent result”.
PM Modi wrote on X: “A great game and great results! We are proud of the cricket team that brought the ICC championship trophy home. They performed well in the game. Congratulations to our team for the full display.”
PM Modi stands in every team of high and low again. Prime Minister Modi responded quickly last year after the Indian team canceled the T20 World Cup, saying: “Today, 1.4 billion Indians will be proud of your performance.”
In 2023, Prime Minister Modi visited the locker room to boost morale and comfort the team after India suffered a humiliating defeat in Australia in the World Cup final in Ahmedabad.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also joined Prime Minister Modi for congratulating the Indian team on making “national pride” after today’s historic victory.
Shah wrote on X: “The script’s victory. Congratulations to the Indian team for a stunning victory in ICC#Championstrophy2025. Your intense energy and impeccable dominance on the court have made the country proud and set a new benchmark for cricket excellence.
India became the first team to win the championship trophy for the third time on Sunday. Rohit Sharma scored 76 points in India’s 252-stroke chase, leading his team to a historic victory in Dubai. Rohit won the game win for being dazzling in the final. With this victory, Rohit became the only Indian captain to win multiple ICC trophys in white ball cricket.
