Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Friday urged the people to “rise” to defend the state against the definition and trilingual policy that defines constituencies.
Tamil Nadu CM shared a video message saying the state faces two key challenges, one of which is the struggle against demarcation.
Stalin imposed plans to force constituencies to delineate the state’s self-esteem, social justice and welfare towards the people.
“Today, Tamil Nadu is facing two key challenges – the Battle of Language, which is our lifeline, and the struggle against demarcation is our right. I seriously urge you to convey the true nature of our struggle to people. The demarcation of voters directly affects the self-attitude of our country, the self-attitude towards people, you must be about the rise of people.
Stalin said other countries are increasing voices of solidarity with the central government.
“Today, we witnessed voices of solidarity from Karnataka, Punjab, Telangana and beyond. Faced with this resistance, the coalition government insisted that it did not impose its will on us, but all their actions imply other actions,” said Tamil Nadu CM.
Stalin criticized the trilingual policy, saying it caused the center to withhold funds from the state, and demarcation would now “affect” the state’s representatives.
“Their trilingual policy has led to withholding of our legal funds. Similarly, despite their claim that they will not reduce the parliamentary seats in Tamil Nadu, they are unwilling to ensure that the representatives of other countries will not increase disproportionately. Our needs are clear – the population based solely on population decisions… We will never compromise on the welfare of Tamil Nadu and the future for anyone or anyone’s future… Tamil Nadu will boycott! Tamil Nadu will prevail,” Stalin said.
Earlier, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah said that Amit Shah’s assurances to the southern states that they would not be unfavorable in the demarcation process, which is unreliable.
Karnataka CM said the Shah’s statement appeared to be to create chaos in the southern states.
He said: “For the vague remarks of the interior minister, he appears to lack proper information or intentionally up to the intentions of the southern countries including Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.”
“Everyone must defend our country,” Tamil Nadu CM Stalin said.
