Environmentalists warn that hundreds of horseshoe crab carcasses have been added, scattered across the coast of Barasol in Odisha, warning that the species lacks specific protections – using blue blood in the production of rapid diagnostic reagents to achieve the toxicity of this considerable diagnostic drug to make this dangerously pose a dangerous danger.
“We found hundreds of dead horseshoe crabs on Goodpahi Beach under the Chandipur Wildlife Mountains. Many of these dead crabs are fresh because they are believed to have died within the last three to four days. Biswajeet Panda, founder of the NGO Bikash Saathi, said we managed to release 163 horseshoe crabs trapped in fishing nets.
Mr Panda said it was when horseshoe crabs visited the coast to breed, and they laid thousands of eggs at their preferred location.

“It’s an environmental disaster. The use of the horseshoe crab is a very valuable species. It’s our responsibility since the endangered species visited the coast of Odisha.

“The destructive fishing habits should be attributed solely to death. Balasore, which once boasted about the species, will soon become a cemetery for endangered species,” said Mr Choudhury. Most breeding farms of horseshoe crabs fall in prohibited areas of the comprehensive test range, Chandipur, Chandipur, missile testing facilities of the Defense R&D organization, and the forest sector’s additional efforts will help endangered species survive.
Filsherfolks essentially gave up damaged fishing nets inside the ocean or on the beach. Horseshoe crabs are entangled in the net.
“The threat to species cannot be measured by the death toll. Horseshoe crabs come in pairs to lay eggs under the beach. A female crab is said to have between 8,000 and 10,000 eggs. A recent study, “The fishery is dangerously harmful to the Indian horseshoe crab (tachypleus gigas), along the northeast coast of Odisha, India, noted that a total of 6,546 entangled horseshoe crabs were recorded along the coast of Barasol during a two-year survey.
“Of course, 1408 were recovered alive, while 5,138 were found dead on water or entangled with fishing nets. Among the dead, 703 were severely decomposed or could not determine their gender in their teenage years. For the remaining lives and the dead, a total of 3,496 women (59.8%) and 2,347 (40.2%) of men were recorded,” said Mr. Dash, one of the authors of the study.
“Once annually, from March 2017 to February 2018, 2,377 entangled horseshoe crabs were recorded, 483 of whom were still alive and released back to the sea, while from March 2018 to February 2019, a total of 4,169 people were found, 925 of whom were still alive and rescued safely,” he said elaborately.
