Kolkata: Passengers will face difficulties in commuting as the Eastern Railway’s Howrah division has announced that 30 pairs of suburban trains will be canceled daily from Saturday (December 21, 2024) to February 1 next year due to the construction of flyovers.

Senior ED officials said the cancellation, diversion and rescheduling of services will be due to the construction of a state-of-the-art bowstring girder bridge to replace the old Benaras Road flyover between Howrah and Lilua stations.

The canceled flights will include 15 pairs of Howrah-Bandel-Howrah locals, 11 pairs of Howrah-Sheoraphuli-Howrah locals, two pairs of Howrah-Belur Math-Howrah locals and two pairs of Howrah-Shrirampur-Howrah locals. division, Sanjeev Kumar said.

He said that during this period, the operation of many express trains will be controlled, causing delays in reaching destinations from 20 minutes to one hour.

Kumar said these trains will include 12370 Dehradun-Howrah Kumbha Express, 12328 Dehradun-Howrah Upasana Express, 15272 Muzaffarpur-Howrah Jansadharan Express, 13030 Mokama-Howrah Express and Raxaul-Howrah Jansadharan Express, 13030 Mokama-Howrah Express and Raxaul-Howrah Jansadharan Express Express, 13030 Mokama-Howrah Express and Raxaul-Howrah Jansadharan Express, 13030 Mokama-Howrah Express and Raxaul-Howrah Jansithila Express.

He said some other passenger trains will be rescheduled or diverted during the flyover construction period till February 1.
