DMK MPs worked on Sunday to secure Tamil Nadu’s rights relative to the Lok Sabha seat demarcation issue, saying population-based practice will affect not only southern states, but other countries including Odisha and West Bengal.
The meeting of DMK MPs was held here by party chairman and Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin, on the eve of the resumption of the parliamentary meeting on Monday.
The meeting passed a resolution and decided to assume the issue of demarcation in Parliament. Others, including Hindi “imposed” will also be raised.
The DMK has always insisted that the delimitation of the population-based Lok Sabha seats will lead to a decrease in the number of existing seats in Tamil Nadu and hopes to practice based on the 1971 census.
The center has not made a “clear response” to the issue and is causing chaos, which the MP has addressed and said Stalin is aware that Tamil Nadu and other southern states have been “punished” for the effective implementation of population control measures.
“This meeting is determined to support CM Stalin in all efforts in this period and to include it in Parliament and ensure that Tamil Nadu does not lose a Lok Sabha seat.”
In addition, DMK MPs are determined to work hard to gain party support from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Kerala, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal and Punjab – all states will lose post-propaganda LS seats and put them in trouble on this issue.
To this end, DMK MPs will coordinate with colleagues from all parties in the alliance.
