PMK founder S. Ramadoss on Thursday said his differences with his son and party president Anbumani Ramadoss have been resolved. Dr Anbumani, however, stood firm on the appointment of his grandson Mukuntan as leader of the youth wing of the party, despite his objections.
Dr. Ramadoss added that the order appointing Mr. Mukuntan to the position had been handed over to him.
Dr Ramadoss was responding to reporters’ questions in Thalapuram regarding the recent spat between him and Dr Anbumani at the PMK’s special general council meeting. Some issues usually crop up at full council meetings, and generally speaking, no party will allow members of the media to attend such events.
He further said that the functioning of the Tamil Nadu police was “paralyzed” and they were not under the control of Chief Minister Stalin. Several cases, including the Vengevayal incident, the death of Congress Tirunelveli East president and the triple murder of a Tirupur family, were supposed to be solved by the police. However, he noted that they have been pending.
Mr Starling meets with police forces every six months. Normally, Dr Ramados said, he should hold meetings with police officers every two weeks, adding that police officers must be given full freedom and hands-off to carry out their duties.
He also asked the government to shut down illegal liquor outlets near Tasmac shops in the state.
