Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazagam (AMMK) general secretary TTV Dhinakaran on Thursday called for the cancellation of the public hearing scheduled for Friday on the Ennore Thermal Power Station (ETPS) expansion project proposed by Tamil Nadu Power Generation Corporation Limited (TNPGCL)) , is currently handling the operation of fossil fuel power plants and implementing such plans.
In a post on his social media account, Dhinakaran said environmentalists feared that northern Chennai might become uninhabitable as the area is home to many power plants, refineries and chemical plants. He said adding 660 megawatt (MW) units would make the situation worse.
