A senior official said the aviation regulator, the Civil Aviation Administration (DGCA), has begun investigating a tail strike incident at Chennai Airport on March 8, involving an Indigo A321 aircraft.

The tail of the Airbus A321 from the Indigo Airline fleet hit the runway while landing at Chennai Airport on Sunday.

Although there are no more details, the airline noted in a press release: “The aircraft is rooted and will return to operation and operate within the scope of necessary repairs and cleaning.”

Senior DGCA officials said regulators are investigating the incident. No more details can be determined immediately.

In the statement, Indigo also regretted that the subsequent cancellation after the aircraft was grounded, causing inconvenience to passengers.
