Consumption tax policy case: Delhi court directs ED to provide papers to defendants

New Delhi: The Delhi court has directed the emergency department to hand over certain documents to the defendants in a money laundering case against former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and others in connection with the so-called consumer scam. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja passed an application filed by several defendants on February 25, claiming that they had not received some documents related to the charge form submitted in the case.

The court, which is currently under review of the documents, released the matter on March 3 – also involving AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh.

“After the next hearing date on March 3, further litigation will be held at the next hearing,” the judge said.

The money laundering case stems from a CBI case filed after Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena filed an investigation into the alleged violation.

According to the CBI and ED, violations were committed when the policy was revised and the inappropriate benefits extended to license holders.
