On the last day of the winter session, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor expressed disappointment over repeated disruptions in parliamentary proceedings, saying the parliament failed to discharge its responsibilities and let down the people of the country.
Speaking to ANI, Congress MP Tharoor said: “I am a very disappointed MP. Most of our MPs are disappointed. I think there are many major issues in our country that need to be discussed, including unemployment, rising prices, Manipur BANG, SAMBURG Sadly, violence erupted as soon as parliament began and for many of us the only constructive work was done in parliamentary committees.
He also expressed hope that the BJP-led central government would engage with the opposition and find a solution so that Parliament can function without disruption.
“In my opinion, Parliament is of course a forum for debate, discussion and disagreement, but not for disruption. The government and the opposition reached an agreement in the first week that the opposition could protest outside, but internal work will continue.” continued Two or three days, but after that, we have a complete breakdown again and I really hope that the government can find a solution in an objective way.
“The budget session is coming up and we should not see a repeat of this situation in February-March,” he said.
The Lok Sabha and the Lok Sabha were adjourned on Friday amid protests over Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks against BR Ambedkar. The 2024 Winter Session of Parliament begins on November 25 and ends on December 20.
