Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will expand the cabinet ahead of Bihar parliamentary elections on Wednesday, from his party, Janata Dal and Ellie Balati A new minister was introduced to the Ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Sources confirmed to ANI that the expansion will take place around 4 p.m. and four other MLAs will hold ministerial positions.
In addition, two MLAs from Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (Manchester United) will also be selected as ministers, the source added.
In a significant development, Bihar Tax Minister and BJP State President Dilip Jaiswal announced his resignation from the position of minister on the grounds of the party’s “one person, one post” policy .
“I will resign from the position of Minister of Taxation. “One person, one post” is the party’s working principle. I am very grateful to the central leadership for giving my party’s national department the responsibility,” Jaiswal told ANI.
Jaiswal was appointed President of Bihar State of BJP on January 18. His resignation could lead to further reorganization of Nitish Kumar’s cabinet, with expansion expected before elections later this year.
Speaking about the cabinet expansion, Jaiswal said: “It is a privilege of the chief minister.”
Meanwhile, Nishant Kumar, son of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, urged the people of Bihar to support his father in the upcoming elections.
“I urge the people of Bihar to vote for Bihar CM Nitish Kumar because he has done a lot of development in the state. Last time, people got 43 seats. The public should make sure we win more seats in the election, so that we can continue to develop the pace,” Nishant Kumar said.
He further called on JD(U) workers to bring the policies and achievements of Nitish Kumar over the past 19 years to the people of Bihar.
