India and China have reached an agreement to resume patrols along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh, the Center announced on Monday, paving the way for disengagement and resolution of tensions that began with a skirmish in May 2020.
This comes ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Russia for the 16th BRICS Summit.
“After discussions over the past few weeks, the two sides have reached an agreement on patrol arrangements along the Line of Actual Control on the China-India border, which will lead to disengagement and ultimately conflict between China and India.” Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri (Vikram Misri) said: “We want to solve the problems that emerged in these areas in 2020.”
