Two days after an Indian Navy speedboat collided with a passenger-laden ferry off the Mumbai coast, Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi visited the Western Naval Command headquarters on Friday to discuss the incident. Meetings were held with senior officials.
Admiral Tripathi also conducted an aerial inspection of the incident site on Wednesday afternoon, an official said. Fourteen people, including a sailor, died when the navy speedboat rammed into a ferry bound for Koh Chang from the Gateway of India.
The ferry, “Neel Kamal”, carrying more than 100 passengers, capsized due to the impact of the accident. On Thursday, the Navy established a “board of inquiry” to investigate the collision. Tripathi also visited Mumbai in July after the warship Brahmaputra caught fire.
