Officials said a Pakistani invader was shot dead by the Border Security Forces (BSF) on the international border of Patankot, Punjab, early Wednesday morning. This is after BSF troops observed a suspicious movement along the international border (IB) of the BOP Tashpatan area located in the Pathankot border area. Despite being challenged by the troops, the invaders did not stop over this.
Officials said the invader was subsequently shot and his identity was confirmed. BSF spokesman Jamu Frontier said strong protests will be raised against the Pakistan Rangers on the incident. BSF guards India-Pakistan’s international border, which includes a 553km extension of Punjab.
“Before dawn today, BSF troops observed suspicious movements across the IB (international border) across the BOP Tashpatan, Pathankot border area and observed an intruder crossing the IB; he was challenged by the Alert Force but did not put in any effort , but please keep moving and keep moving forward. In response to the incident, the BSF said that the Pakistan Rangers will cause strong protests in the infiltration attempt. Meanwhile, the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya (BSF) intercepted and arrested multiple people who attempted to illegally cross the international border, the BSF said in a statement on February 23.
BSF forces intercepted four Bangladeshi nationals on the international border of the Sijaantia mountainous region. In another swift and decisive operation, BSF Meghalaya forces arrested two more Bangladeshi nationals near the international borders of South Garo Hills, the statement added.
These operations were carried out as part of BSF Meghalaya’s ongoing curbing illegal infiltration and other transnational crimes. During the operation, the 4th and 1st Battalions alerted the suspicious movement along the border and immediately took action, resulting in the arrest of six Bangladesh nationals, as stated in the statement.
The arrested person was then handed over to the police station for further legal action. Further inquiries revealed that some arrested people had been working as bricklayers in Basantpur, Mumbai, while female Bangladeshi nationals traveled to Mumbai for medical treatment from their husbands, BSF said.
