Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Indian National Congress (INC) for their alleged stand against industrialist Gautam Adani Double standards.
In a letter to Rahul Gandhi, KTR accused the Telangana Congress Party under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of contradicting the party’s national rhetoric on corruption and crony capitalism.
KTR highlighted the Congress’ nationwide campaign against Adani, including the ‘Chalo Raj Bhavan’ plan on December 18, as hypocritical in view of Revanth Reddy’s actions in Telangana. He claimed that Reddy had brokered major deals for the Adani Group at the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this year, raking in investments worth hundreds of millions of rupees.
The BRS leader also accused Revanth Reddy of accepting a Rs 100-crore donation from Adani, which was reportedly returned after BRS exposed the deal. KTR called it a “textbook case of quid pro quo,” calling into question Congress’s credibility in fighting corruption. He also claimed plans to privatize Telangana’s electricity bill collection project and hand it over to Adani.
KTR further alleged that Congress cabinet ministers, including Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, were involved in land deals with Adani representatives at a Hyderabad hotel. He called the actions “backroom dealings” that undermined Congress’ public stance against crony capitalism.
KTR asked Rahul Gandhi to resolve the alleged conflict within the Congress. “Will you question your own chief minister’s ‘relationship’ with Adani or will you remain silent to protect his vested interests?” KTR asked. He criticized the Congress party’s anti-Adani campaign as a “political farce” and warned the people of Telangana that such “hypocrisy” would not be tolerated.
In an open letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Wednesday, KTR asked him to initiate a discussion on the issue of Formula E in the state Assembly.
The BRS leader had also written an open letter to Rahul Gandhi in November, expressing his harsh criticism of the Congress-led Telangana government in its first year in power.
Listing out a list of grievances, he suggested that the Ravensh Reddy-led government had not only failed to fulfill its campaign promises but had also set back the state’s development by a decade.
