The bodies of a British woman and her fiancé were found in separate rooms at a tourist villa in Vietnam, police said.
The victims, known locally as Briton Greta Marie Otteson, 33, and South African Arno Els Quinton, 36, were living in Guangzhou In a complex in Hoi An City, central South Province.
At 11:18 a.m. on December 26, villa staff and police discovered the body.
According to media reports, Otteson’s body was found on a bed on the first floor, while Quinton’s body was found in the same location in another room.
According to the VnExpress website, a forensic examination found no evidence of physical trauma or violence and no signs of a break-in.
The two victims had registered for long-term temporary stay at the tourist villa since July 4 last year.
Investigators noticed several used alcohol bottles at the scene.
Otterson serves as a social media marketing manager and previously worked in Dubai, while Quinton works as a barista.
A spokesman for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said on Thursday: “We are providing support to the family of a British woman who died in Vietnam and are in contact with local authorities.”
