A task force was formed after the wild boar attack and started operations on March 9, 2025 (March 9, 2025), killing Ak Sreedharan, a farmer in Mokeri Panchayat, Kannur.
The initiative was initiated under the direction of the Minister of Forests and Wildlife Minister Ak Saseendran, following a high-level meeting in Mokeri.
The task force led by MLA KP Mohanan includes authorized shooters, forest officials and Panchayat representatives. Two shooters from the Forest Department, Joby Sebastian and CK Vinod assisted in finding wild boars in the area where the attack occurred. The operation also saw the participation of Mokeri Panchayat President P. Valsan, range officer Sudheer Neroth, and others.
Mr Mohanan said the search operation would continue and urged farmers to work with the task force’s efforts. He added that the move is intended to mitigate the rise in threats to wild boar attacks to residents and prevent further incidents.
