Patna, Dec 19 (PTI) Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday said the Bihar government has purchased 8,000 acres of land during the current financial year for the development of industrial areas and An additional 10,000 acres of land will be acquired in the next financial year to attract investments in the state.

Addressing the inaugural session of the two-day Bihar Business Connect 2024, he said that the NDA government in the state is taking several measures to promote investments.

“During the current financial year, the relevant departments have acquired 8,000 acres of land in different parts of the state for the development of industrial areas. Additional deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sinha said India’s growth was incomplete without Bihar.

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Bihar is witnessing growth, especially in terms of industrial development,” he said.

Sinha said the state government recently approved the Bihar Film Promotion Policy, which will promote investment, employment and tourism through films and help change the perception of the state.

“We have the capability to take Bihar’s heritage to the world stage. Bihar’s filmmaking potential is huge. Bihar’s glorious past in the field of arts and culture and natural film treasures are enough to attract filmmakers. He said the state government is also preparing to set up a film city and film training institute.

State Labor Minister Santosh Kumar Singh said on the show that Bihar is a hub for both skilled and unskilled workers.

Earlier, Industry Minister Bandana Preyashi said the state government will soon launch five new industry-specific policy incentives to attract investments in the state.

“We see Bihar as India’s next growth engine,” Preyasi said, noting that the state is known as the cradle of Indian civilization, the birthplace of Buddhism and home to the world’s oldest university. .

“Now, Bihar is writing a new story. Bihar – from a place of history to a place of industry,” she said.

She said that under Kumar’s leadership, the physical infrastructure as well as the law and order situation had improved significantly.

Preyashi said the state government has formulated the Bihar Industrial Investment Policy 2016, along with some sector-specific policies such as Bihar Entrepreneurship Policy, Bihar IT Policy, Bihar Logistics Policy, Textile and Leather Policy , Bihar tourism policy, export promotion policy and purchase price concession policy to promote development.

The policies have been appreciated by the industry, she said, adding, “We will be introducing more industry-specific policies soon.”

These include Bihar Food Processing Policy, Bihar Pharmaceutical Promotion Policy, Bihar Plastic Manufacturing Promotion Policy, Biofuel Production Promotion Policy and Bihar Wood Industry Policy, Preyashi said.

The state has created more than 3,000 acres of land bank to set up industry and provide about 2.4 million square feet of plug-and-play sheds, she said.

“We are now acquiring land in every district of Bihar. The government has given cabinet approval,” she said.

The minister said the government is focusing on promoting the development of startups and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The second Global Investors Summit aims to attract investments and create jobs, officials said.
