Patna, Dec 19 (PTI) Bihar will soon launch a renewable energy industry policy, Energy Ministry Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal said, urging investors to invest in the state as it offers huge business opportunities.
Addressing the “Bihar Business Connect 2024” summit here, he said the government is finalizing the policy and the state cabinet will soon notify the policy.
He said the government took suggestions from Bihar chamber of commerce and industry representatives into consideration while formulating the policy.
To facilitate business operations, single window customs clearance will be provided, he said.
Regarding various business opportunities in the state, Pal said investors can explore manufacturing of power and distribution transformers and their repairs, smart meter facilities, vacuum circuit breakers and conductors.
He said investors could explore pumped hydro energy storage projects and floating solar energy projects, among other growth opportunities.
He said the Bihar government was committed to ensuring land, uninterrupted power supply and all types of permissions for investors.
The official also revealed that the government is planning to set up three independent power grids in the state to provide uninterrupted power supply to industries.
He said the state will have 185 megawatts of solar projects and 254 megawatt hours of battery storage commissioned by July 2025.
The government will also propose a 1,500 MWh battery storage project, with a first phase capacity of 500 MWh. He said that an 800MWX3 thermal power plant will also be built in Bihar.
