Beyoncé made history as the most nominated artist ever at the Grammy Awards, surpassing her husband Jay-Z.
The couple each received 88 nominations, but Beyoncé currently leads the pack with recognition for her latest album, “Cowboy Carter.”
On Friday, she received her 89th nomination in the best pop solo performance category for her song “Bodyguard.” The full shortlist for the 2025 awards is currently being announced.
Beyoncé is already the Recording Academy’s most respected artist, with 32 wins as a solo artist and three more as a member of Destiny’s Child.
However, despite being nominated for four Album of the Year awards, she never won the coveted Album of the Year trophy.
Harry Styles recently beat her to the punch at the 2023 awards, with Beyoncé’s Disco Odyssey Renaissance the bookies’ favorite to win.
When Beyoncé accepted a lifetime achievement award earlier this year, Jay-Z appeared to scold Grammy voters for what they perceived to be her lack of recognition in the top category.
“I don’t want to embarrass this young lady,” he told the audience. “But she’s won more Grammys than anyone else and has never won Album of the Year.
“So even by your own standards, this doesn’t work. Think about it. The person who has won the most Grammys; has never won Album of the Year. This doesn’t work.”
With the full 2025 Grammy Awards nominations announced on Friday, she is widely expected to receive her fifth Album of the Year nomination.
Other artists in the running for the top prize include Tormented Poet’s Taylor Swift, Hit Me Hard And Soft’s Billie Eilish and Chappelle Rowan’s The Rise and Fall of the Midwestern Princess.
Nominations for all 94 Grammy categories have been announced in an announcement The ceremony will be broadcast live on YouTube channelstarring Kylie Minogue, Mark Ronson, and Victoria Monet.
British star Rae has received several early nominations, including Songwriter of the Year and Best New Artist.
The Rolling Stones are also on the shortlist for best rock album for Hackney Diamonds, their first original album since 2016.
