Bank holidays in March: State-owned and private banks in India will remain closed for eight days in March, except for the second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays.
According to the Bank Holiday Calendar of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will be closed on March 7, 13, 14, 14, 15, 22, 27, 28 and 31.
These holidays will fall under the Negotiable Instruments Act, which involves the issuance of checks and promissory notes. Therefore, these transactions will not be available during the designated bank holidays.
Here is a list of bank holidays for March and you should consider before planning any bank jobs that require actual visits.
March 7 Capch Char Kut
Chapchar Kut is the largest and most popular festival in Mizoram and is celebrated in spring. On this day, banks will be closed at Mizoram due to public holidays in the state.
March 13 Holika Dahhan / Attukal Pongala
Holika Dahan or Chhoti Holi was celebrated the day before Holi, and Hindus burned bonfires and burning demon Holika, indicating that the victory of goodness over evil. Attukal Pongala, on the other hand, is a 10-day festival held at the Attukal Bhagavathy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. Banks will be closed in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Kerala.
Holi Festival on March 14 (the second day) – Dhuleti/dhulandi/dhulandi/dol jatra
Holi is one of India’s largest festivals and will be celebrated on March 14. Known as the “Festive of Color”, Holi will be celebrated throughout the country, but not a national holiday. Banks will be closed in Gujarat, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi, Goa, Bihar, Meghalaya and Himaal Pradesh.
March 15th Holi Festival/Yaosang Day 2
In the continuation of the Holly Day, the bank will be closed on Tripura, Odisha, Manipur and Bihar.
March 22 Bihar
Bihar Diwas is the national era of the country and is celebrated on March 22. Bank will be closed in Bihar that day.
March 27 Shab-i-Qadr
Shab-i-Qadr is the night when Muslims believe that the Quran is first revealed to the prophet Muhammad. Banks to be closed in Jamu and Kashmir
Friday, March 28 – Ulveda
Jumat-ul-Vida is the last Friday of the Ramadan month. There will be a bank holiday in Jamu and Kashmir this time.
March 31 Ramzan-ID (ID-U-FITR) (Shawal-1)/khutub-e-ramzan
Id-ul-Fitr is one of the largest festivals in Islam, marking the end of the month-long Ramadan Ramadan fast. The victory of the prophet was celebrated that day in the Battle of Bad.
