A 22-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his wife and her two accomplices in Velankanni.
Janarthanan, 22, and Helen Mary, 21, who married a few months ago, returned to town on March 8 with two friends from Shivamogga, Karnataka. Later that night, only his friend returned, informing her that they had murdered Janarthanan near Velankanni train station.
Helen Mary immediately filed a complaint with Velankanni police, who launched an investigation and found Janarthanan’s body in a tree-forest area near the train station with severe head injuries. The body was sent to Nagapatinam Government Medical College for autopsy.
Meanwhile, police learned that the two suspects were trying to escape by train and arrested them on Saturday with the assistance of Tagarwal police. The suspects were identified as 19-year-old Jeevan and 15-year-old minors of Shivamogga.
During the trial, it was revealed that Helen Mary planned the murder because she allegedly had a relationship with Jeevan and mapped Janarthanan’s murder.
Helen Mary, Jeevan and the minor were arrested on Sunday.
