The suspect in the murder of a young girl in the Barasol area of Odisha was arrested by police two days after running away and attempts to escape from prisoners failed.
Defendant Biswaranjan had been running away for two days after allegedly slitting the girl’s throat.
Police launched a search on Wednesday. Biswaranjan jumped into the pond for the first time when the officer approached, and then consumed the poison, apparently to avoid being arrested.
However, the police successfully arrested him and immediately transported him to Balasol, where he was hospitalized in police custody.
Biswaranjan attacked the girl in revenge on Monday after she rejected his progress. The victim had previously filed a lawsuit against him, accusing him of harassment.
While she was home alone, Biswaranjan forced into her residence and cut her throat, killing her immediately. He then fled the scene, but an intensive police search resulted in his arrest.
“The defendant has been absconding for the last two days after murdering his girlfriend in the Solo area of the Balasol area. Police were found in the jungle area where he was found in critical condition after consuming poison. His health is now stable and he is undergoing treatment. He is receiving treatment. According to the defendant’s allegations, police have filed charges against Balasore.”
The murders sparked anger in the area, and people demanded swift action and justice.
