Bihar Holi Row: On the same day this year, Holi and Friday’s prayer festival fell on the same day, so the situation of law and order has attracted attention. A few days after Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath supported Sambhal Co, he asked Muslims to stay indoors in Holi and if they were afraid of colors, Bihar BJP MLA Haribhushan Thakur Bachaul made a similar statement.
However, his remarks have sparked sharp criticism from opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav, who even urged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to propose FIR against him.
“I want to call on Muslims to have 52 Jamas a year (Friday). One of this week matches the winter. So they should have Hindus celebrate the festival, if painted on color, if there is such a problem, they should leave such a problem. If they have such a problem, they should stay indoors.
The MLA further said: “They (Muslims) always have a double standard. They are happy to make money by setting up stalls that sell Abir-Gulaal (colored powder), but if a few stains land on the clothes, they start to worry about more than a dozen Zakh (hell).
But Tejashwi reminded Bachaul in a sharp rebuttal: “This is not his father’s rule (baap ka raj). He should try to whip the public tensions against him.”
The RJD leader further added: “Bachau should remember that this is Bihar, the designs of RSS-BJP and Sangh Parivar are often foiled. He thinks he can attack our Muslim brothers. But our land is protected by at least five to six Hindus every Muslim.”

Reacting to BJP MLA Haribhushan Thakur Bachaul’s appeal to Muslims to stay indoors on Holi, Congress MLA Anand Shankar said, “The way monsters would interfere in ‘havan’, ‘puja’ in ancient times, at present, such people are the people of BJP, they interfere in festivals, try to divide people on religion, caste, take political benefit, and that is how they function. This country runs through the Constitution and if it is so, they should not speak such things. I urge the CM to take cognisance and take action.”
However, Zama Khan, the state’s Minister of Minority Affairs and JD (U) leader, asserted: “No adverse events will occur. It is clear that the government will ensure harmony during the holidays.
