“The Assam government will urge the center to improve the safety of the NEET center, including checking the biometrics of candidates at the door, as it was found that despite the high scores in the medical entrance exam, many students have limited knowledge.”
Sarma said in a press conference here after a cabinet meeting that faculty and staff at the state’s medical school pointed out that a large number of students taking the entrance exam were not as good as they should have been.
He added: “Many professors told us that despite the high scores in such a large examination, many students have very limited practical or academic knowledge. We have asked special branches to investigate what happened half and half a year ago.”

Mr Salma said police have notified the government that most admissions centres are in private institutions, not in official schools or universities.
He added: “We did not interfere with what we did in Delhi.
“The state government will also require the NTA and the Ministry of Education to conduct NEET under the direct supervision of district committee members and police departments,” the chief minister said.
Biometric testing
“The third request will be a biometric test for candidates before entering the examination hall. If these steps are taken, I believe the medical examination process will be transparent,” he said.
Mr Sarma said the Government had authorized the Chief Secretary to contact the NTA Director-General and the Union Education Secretary to inform them of the Cabinet decision.
The chief minister said he would personally discuss the matter with union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The state cabinet also approved the quota for the Char area (river nutrition island) that revoked the 2017 Assam MBBS/BDS rules from the 2025-26 session.

“We have also decided to amend the bill related to the Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences (SSUHS). This will require national security approval from the home security department before opening a nursing, dentistry, medicine or any medical school.”
“They also have to follow secularism and should not have any direct or indirect participation in the conversion,” he said.
“The government will also introduce a bill at the ongoing conference budget meeting to control and regulate the rising personal coaching agencies in the state,” he said.
The Chief Minister said: “The Cabinet has allocated land to the industry sector to establish two large industrial parks in the Kamrup and Morigan areas.”
To enhance the industrial ecosystem and attract investors into the area, the cabinet also approved the establishment of an industrial park, including the smart town of Hajo in Kamrup.
To simplify the issuance of driver licenses, the Cabinet has approved the establishment of an accredited driver training center on the autonomous driving test track in each of the 126 constituencies.
Mr Salma said the Cabinet approved a proposal to make efforts against Mayori and Sivasargar so that they can gain status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In addition, he announced that the Assam government will present the highest state civilian award “Assam Babav” to former Eastern Army Commander Lieutenant General (RETD) Rana Pratap Kalita.
He added: “He was the first Assamian to reach this position in the Indian armed forces.
Mr. Salma also announced the recipients’ names “Assam Saurav” and “Assam Gaurav”, which will be held on March 30 by the Assam Governor on March 30.
He added: “A total of six outstanding figures were selected to award this year’s “Assam Sorav” award, while 13 people and three organizations will receive the ‘Assam Gaurav’ championship.”
