India captain Rohit Sharma has ensured that he will not retire during the ongoing international cricket series against Australia. The India skipper has been unable to make an impact with the bat and has been in poor form of late. Many fans and cricket pundits have been critical of Rohit’s poor performance with the bat.
Earlier, veteran Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement at the post-match press conference after the third Test match against Australia in Brisbane.
“I’m not playing well. There’s no harm in accepting that. But I know what I’m thinking and how I’m preparing myself. All those boxes are pretty ticked. It’s just about taking as much time as possible, and I’m Pretty sure I’m there, and as long as my mind, my body, and my feet are working well, I’m pretty happy with how things are going.
“Sometimes the numbers can tell you he hasn’t made big strides in a while. But for a guy like me, I think it all comes down to how I feel inside and what I do before each game. kind of preparation and how I feel about myself.
“That’s the most important thing. I feel good about myself, to be honest. The running obviously doesn’t show that, but it feels different inside.”
Rohit Sharma bats lower down the order and KL Rahul takes on the opening duties along with Yashasvi Jaiswal. But then, Rohit’s decision to play at No. 6 simply didn’t work out.
