Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said the government is committed to supporting GST reforms to boost economic growth and ease compliance for all stakeholders in the state.
Addressing the 55th GST Council meeting in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan on Saturday (December 21, 2024), Mr. Main, who is also the Finance Minister, said the state government remains committed to supporting the simplification of goods and service tax reforms, an official communiqué said.
“Arunachal Pradesh remains committed to supporting reforms that simplify the GST framework, ensure fairness and meet the unique needs of the state. These efforts are in line with our vision to promote ease of doing business and accelerate growth,” he said.
The meeting, chaired by Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, covered a wide range of topics aimed at streamlining the GST framework and ensuring it is more inclusive and effective.
Discussions during the meeting focused on key areas aimed at strengthening the GST framework to drive economic growth and improve taxpayer support.

Proposed amendments to strengthen the legal structure of GST were highlighted, along with efforts to simplify the GST rate structure on goods and services to make compliance easier and boost economic activity.
The meeting also emphasized the need to improve the taxpayer’s complaint mechanism and provide better support to taxpayers.
The agenda includes extending exemptions for key sectors such as health and life insurance, as well as conducting research in the wider public interest, advancing the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) procedural rules to streamline dispute resolution and ensure timely and fair submissions to The states’ settlement of IGST revenue bulletins stated that the finances are more stable.
Mr Mein expressed support for the recommendations and updates made during the meeting, including the minutes of the last GST Council meeting.
