Andhra Pradesh’s SDSTPS unit hits the milestone of 100-day continuous operation for the first time

The third (800 MW) unit of the Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Plant (SDSTPS) in Krishnapatnam, Nellore District reached a significant milestone of 100-day continuous operation for the first time, with the 15.963 million unit (MU) of the factory (PLF) of 83%, accounting for 83%.

Additionally, according to the official release, SDSTP always produces 45 MU, contributing 40% of the state’s calorie generation, which says SDSTPS units exhibit excellent performance, efficiency and resilience, and the ongoing operation reflects the workforce, strong maintenance strategies and advanced technical intervention efforts to show the best technical intervention effects.

Its MD KVN Chakradhar Babu said, “Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Company Ltd. (GENCO) has generated more than 110 mu of the grid since January 2025 to meet grid demand and reached 123 MU Thermal Generation on February 22, 2025.” He thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar and Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand for their support and visionary leadership in strengthening state power utilities.

He said AP Genco is working on best practices to improve operational efficiency, reduce emissions and maintain the highest PLF, and that utilities are committed to achieving the state’s goals, providing 24×7 power to consumers in all categories and providing nine hours of power to the agricultural sector during the day.
