Andhra Pradesh Temple Festival Dance – Fraud of Andhra Pradesh during Temple Festival, Sparks debate

A temple parade in the Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh triggered debates on tradition and modernity.

The incident took place during the 16th annual Brahmotsavam, held from February 17 to 23, at the Sri Vasudeva Perumal Temple in Mandasa Village, Srikakulam District.

While temple rituals are often accompanied by traditional hymns and spiritual music, this year’s Rathotsavam (Character Festival) has undergone an unexpected turn. While carrying the deity of Lord Vasudeva Perumal, the priest saw a lot of songs dancing, and some even tried to break in.

Videos of the Priest’s Slot during the night parade spread rapidly on social media, showing mixed reactions. Some praised the priests for making religious celebrations more attractive, while others criticized the act, saying it was disrespectful to the temple tradition.

The video shows the priest wearing yellow and white grooves covered with music while the devotees around them cheered.

The temple authorities have not issued an official statement, but the video continues to discuss the growing nature of religious practices.
