Indian-origin student Lakshmi Kumari turned heads in a traditional gown at her graduation ceremony in Switzerland. Ms Kumari, a German-speaking law graduate from the University of Basel, celebrated her achievement by wearing an outfit that represented her Indian heritage.

Sharing her look on Instagram, she wrote: “You’d never guess it’s sub-zero temperatures and snowing outside, but obviously there’s no compromise when it comes to wearing a gown.”

Her classmates and professors also appreciated her choice, expressing support and appreciating the cultural significance of her attire. Ms. Kumari chose a simple yet elegant gown to ensure it suited the occasion while still being eye-catching. “Lehengas are rarely seen in Switzerland except in Bollywood movies, so it stands out,” she points out.
