England captain Jos Buttler admitted that his team’s white ball leadership will be under scrutiny after they exited the ICC championship trophy early and said he needs to “consider all possibilities about his captain’s future”. “I’m going to take a moment to personally solve what I think is right. I’m not going to make any emotional decisions here right now. You might not be the first person I’m going to discuss. The result is tough, and sometimes it’s heavy. And, of course, you want to lead a winning team, we’ve been there for a while, so obviously there are some difficult moments.”

Former West Indies fast bowler Ian Bishop responded to sentiment that England’s leadership may be reviewing.

“They have to be a better team than that. Given their history since 2019, I think there may be leadership issues right now. Quality exists, but they are not taking advantage of it. It could mean it could be another leadership.”
