The Ministry of Defense said Sunday’s private company Alpha Tocol Engineering Service handed over the first rear fuselage for the light fighter MK1A to Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (HAL).
According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, in the presence of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, the rear fuselage was handed over to the pilots of HAL.
In this speech, Singh called it a milestone in India’s historical journey of defense manufacturing.
“The ceremony is a testimony of India’s progress toward Aatmanirbharta in national defense and the government’s commitment to strengthening public-private partnerships,” he said.
The Secretary of Defense praised the HAL and the private sector for the continuous use of the latest platforms and technologies to strengthen the armed forces.
He said HAL not only strengthened the soldiers through its integrated models and strategies, but also opened up new dimensions of manufacturing and R&D (R&D) through collaboration with the private sector.
The statement said the fuselage is the main part of the aircraft, the agency accommodates pilots, passengers and cargo, while the fuselage supports the tail and its related components.
Singh describes Hal as the fuselage of the country’s defense and aerospace sectors, with private companies such as L&T, Alpha Tocol, Tata Advanced Systems and VEM Technologies playing the role of the rear fuselage and supporting HAL.
“Along with these Indian components, aircraft manufactured in our defense and aerospace sectors will reach higher altitudes in the future,” he said.
The minister believes that the courage and dedication of the air fighters and the equipment made by the public and private sectors of India for an increasing number of equipment in the Indian Air Force (IAF).
“Despite valuable contributions from our brave air fighters, the original manufactured equipment provides them with the extra power to protect our boundaries,” he said.
Singh exudes confidence that Hal and the private sector will continue to overcome all challenges and strengthen the armed forces in various ways.
The statement said HAL has placed orders with various Indian private companies including L&T, Alpha Tocol Engineering Services, Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL), VEM Technologies and Lakshmi Mission Works (LMW) to provide the main modules for the 83 LCA MK1A contract.
HAL has built 12 LCA MK1A rear fuselages, which are located on the aircraft on the manufacturing line. With this supply, the main structural modules produced by private Indian partners will be integrated into the LCA MK1A aircraft, allowing HAL to meet the IAF’s additional delivery commitments starting in 2025-26.
