Six people arrested for the attack on actor Allu Arjun at his Jubilee Hills residence in Hyderabad were granted bail by the city court on Monday. The accused, a member of the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OU-JAC), was detained on Sunday following protests related to the Sandia Theater stampede issue. Jubilee Hills police took the accused to his residence in Vanasthalipuram before the magistrate. The court granted bail subject to two sureties of Rs 10,000 each.
Protesters stormed Allu Arjun’s home on Sunday night, raising slogans of “We want justice”. They asked the actor to pay Rs 1 crore compensation to the family of a woman who died in a stampede at Sandhya theater during the premiere of “Pushpa 2: The Rule”.
According to police, OU-JAC members arrived carrying placards, scaled the fence and threw tomatoes into the house. Security personnel intervened, leading to a heated argument. Protesters reportedly manhandled security personnel and damaged flower pots near the entrance ramp before continuing to chant slogans.
Jubilee Hills police quickly arrived and detained six people. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) SM Vijay Kumar confirmed the arrests and announced that a case has been registered against six people and others involved in the case. “Such illegal behavior will not be tolerated and strict legal action will be taken against any offenders,” Kumar said.
The arrested protesters claimed they were expressing concern for the victim’s family and seeking financial assistance from the actor. Despite their intentions, aggressive protests resulted in property damage and disrupted public order. The charges against the defendants include trespassing, vandalism and breach of peace. Police assured that further investigations will be carried out to identify others involved in the incident.
