Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Friday that Beijing’s relations with India have made positive progress over the past year, and last year’s meeting between Kazan President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi provided strategic guidance for improving and developing bilateral relations. Yi said that working together is the best interests of both countries.
“Both sides have carefully followed the important common understanding of exchanges and practical cooperation at all levels and achieved a series of positive results. China and India are each other’s biggest neighbors. China always believes that the two should be each other’s successful partners.
China issued a statement amid the ongoing trade war between Beijing and the United States. Both China and the United States are now seeking to establish greater ties with India, just to oppose each other.
“As important members of the Global South, we have a responsibility to lead the opposition to hegemony and power politics. We must not only safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of our country, but also the basic norms that dominate international relations. When China and India grasp the prospects of international relations, greater democracy and stronger global south in international relations will improve.”
Yi said in a long news report that as the two largest developing countries, China and India have a common task to accelerate the development and revitalization of their countries. Ye said: “We have good reasons to support each other, not weaken each other, interact with each other, not protect each other. This is the path that truly serves the basic interests of both countries and peoples.”
I said that India and China are two ancient civilizations, and the two countries have enough wisdom and ability to maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas and “stay in a fair and reasonable solution.”
“We should never allow bilateral relations to be defined by border issues, nor should we let specific differences affect the overall situation of our bilateral relations,” the Chinese Foreign Minister said.
Wang Yi said that this year marks the 75th anniversary of China-India diplomatic relations. “China is ready to work with India at any time to summarize past experiences, the path forward, and promote China’s relations in the process of voice and steady development,” he said.
India has also been working hard to improve its ties with China. On February 21, Foreign Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed satisfaction while watching the meeting of foreign ministers held in Johannesburg, South Africa. In addition, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Foreign Minister Vikram Misri visited China to discuss various aspects of bilateral relations, including border management and other key areas.
