Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar will present a 2025-26 national budget on Monday (10 March 2025). It is worth noting that this will be the first budget for the newly formed Mahayuti Government and Mr. Pawar as Minister of Finance.
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) said in a press statement that Mr. Paval has been a strict manager in terms of financial discipline and maintains a good balance between people-friendly decisions and development decisions in the budget. During the 19th crisis, Mr. Paval’s financial prudence and discipline were appreciated when several states faced financial difficulties. He always prioritizes development projects and promotes infrastructure development in the state, putting farmers, workers, women, Dalits, tribes, students and youth at the center of the budget.

In 2021, Mr. Pawar proposed the budget for International Women’s Day and on 11 March 2022 (the anniversary of the death of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj). A party spokesman said in a statement that Mr. Paval also proposed a budget for agriculture, industry, transportation, health care and human resources development.

“Ajit Pawar will present his 11th state budget today, which will make him the second finance minister, with the highest budget number after Sheshrao Wankhede, who submitted 13 budgets in the state. Mr Pawar won the second highest record with 11 times, followed by Jayant Patil (10 times) and Sushilkumar Shinde (9 times).
