Video footage, black box data, communications with air traffic control and pilot statements will help determine whether the crash was caused by human error or a technical glitch.
Officials from the Flight Safety Authority and Air Force Headquarters asked Indian Air Force Wing Commander Manish Mishra, pilot ejection escapeand discussed with air traffic control personnel to find out the cause of the crash.
A senior military officer revealed that the Air Force Headquarters has appointed a technical officer to analyze the black boxes.
The incident is being thoroughly investigated by personnel from the Indian Air Force’s Flight Safety Directorate, Aircraft Accident Investigation Board and Adampur Air Force Station.
Sources revealed that a “scene reconstruction” may be planned to better understand the sequence of events leading up to the crash. However, this will depend on whether Wing Commander Mishra is discharged from hospital, as such reconstruction usually requires the involvement of pilots.
