Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson has expressed confidence in the Indian team’s duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma despite their Excellent performance in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy. According to Watson, Virat and Rohit have an excellent record in ODU events and the duo will play a vital role in Team India’s upcoming Champions Trophy match.
In the ongoing series against Australia, Rohit has scored only 31 runs and scored in double figures. Virat Kohli, on the other hand, scored a century in Perth but has since failed with the bat so far in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy Make an impact.
“I don’t think (the current poor form) will really affect the impact of Rohit Sharma and Virat in one-day cricket. The conditions in which they play in Dubai will be different. One-day cricket Competition does have an impact.
“Kohli is definitely a master of one-day cricket… Yes, he is a master of all formats, especially ODIs. You can see his extraordinary numbers over a long period of time, averaging around 57 runs per game, The shooting percentage is as high as 93 points.
The likes of Kohli and Rohit are expected to lead India’s batting line-up. Team India will be gunning for the coveted title after completing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
“It’s more difficult to do it in Test cricket. He couldn’t find that balance in Australia. But when he went out to bat one day, he relaxed. That’s when we saw Rohit Shah Erma’s best work,” Watson said.
“So I would be very surprised if he doesn’t do well in the Champions Trophy because I know he probably doesn’t have much time left, anyway, but there’s still plenty of time in international cricket. So I’m sure he will Release the handbrake,” he added.
